When a selection of weavers were asked about what they needed or would like, they asked for two items:
1) cotton threads
While some weavers continue to grow cotton, they also use machine-spun cotton purchased at the market to make textiles. They can sell these products to support their families or use them personally for festival dress, which does not require hand-spun cotton textiles.
Many weavers do not have access to good cotton threads. Your donation can go towards purchasing cotton threads to distribute to the weavers.
2) reading glasses
When you visit Indonesia, bring along some reading glasses. Or, Senaren can purchase reading glasses to distribute to the weavers with your donation.
